Cryptocurrency expert and trader Michaël van de Poppe expressed optimism in Ethereum&#8217;s short-term prospects, stating that the cryptocurrency was holding above a &#8220;crucial&#8221; level.

Strike, a cryptocurrency payments firm, has launched a new lending product that allows users to take out loans using the world's largest cryptocurrency as collateral.
What Happened: The firm's CEO, Jack Mallers, took to X, explaining how the new offering would work.
Like other credit-financing mechanisms, Bitcoin-backed loans involve temporarily pledging held BTC as secure collateral and receiving a cash loan, to be repaid with interest. The larger the loan, the more collateral is required.

For a 12-month loan, the interest rates begin at 12%, with a minimum borrowing amount of $75,000 and a maximum of $2 million. The loan-to-value ratio will be set at 50%, suggesting that the loans will be overcollateralized.
Strike cautioned that due to Bitcoin's price volatility, the collateral value could diminish, limiting the lender's ability to recover funds. In the event of a liquidation, the collateral could be sold to meet the loan-to-value ratio requirement.
Strive said the feature is available in select U.S. states with plans of expansion in the future.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $3 trillion, following a 2% increase in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, stock futures spiked Tuesday overnight after the Donald Trump administration confirmed that Bessent will meet Chinese officials for trade negotiations this weekend in Geneva.

Analyst Notes: Blockchain analytics firm Santiment said Bitcoin's key stakeholders were "moving in the right direction" to justify the $100,000 target in the near future.
"Wallets with the highest correlation with crypto&#8217;s overall market health (10-10K BTC wallets) have accumulated a combined 81,338 more BTC (+0.61% of their holdings) during these past 6 weeks of volatility," the firm added.

Cryptocurrency analyst Michaël van de Poppe noticed Bitcoin's "solid" chart and expected the apex cryptocurrency to go further north.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin Spike As Scott Bessent's Gears Up For Trade Talks With China: Key BTC Stakeholders 'Moving In The Right Direction' Towards $100,000 Target, Says Analytics Firm

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/etoro-review">Trading platform eToro</a> on Tuesday announced it is seeking a valuation of up to $5 billion in its initial public offering on the Nasdaq, as it launches the roadshow for a 10 million Class A share sale.
Shares will be priced between $46 and $50 and trade under the ticker ETOR, <a href="https://www.etoro.com/en-us/news-and-analysis/latest-news/press-release/etoro-announces-launch-of-initial-public-offering/#:~:text=New%20York%2C%20May%205%2C%202025,offered%20by%20certain%20existing%20stockholders">according</a> to the company&#8217;s filing.
This estimate assumes a standard tech IPO float of roughly 10% of total shares. 
Some analysts, using more conservative assumptions about the public float, estimate the valuation could land closer to $4 billion. 
The final figure will depend on pricing and the number of shares outstanding once the offering is completed.
The offering includes 5 million new shares from eToro and 5 million from existing shareholders, with an additional 1.5 million shares available to underwriters via an over-allotment option. 
If fully subscribed at the top of the range, the IPO could raise up to $575 million.
eToro is a prominent multi-asset investment platform offering trading in stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies and commodities.
It launched crypto trading in 2013, long before most traditional fintech competitors, and has become a key player in the retail digital asset space, especially in Europe and parts of Latin America.
The company's move to go public comes after it canceled a planned SPAC merger with FinTech Acquisition Corp V in 2022, which would have valued the company at $10.4 billion.

That deal collapsed amid cooling market conditions and regulatory scrutiny of crypto-affiliated companies.
In going public now, eToro joins a small group of crypto-integrated platforms that have listed on U.S. exchanges. 
Coinbase (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>) went public via a direct listing in April 2021 at an $86 billion valuation, while Robinhood (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HOOD#NASDAQ">HOOD</a>) raised $2.1 billion in its July 2021 IPO, riding a surge of interest in crypto and meme stock trading.
Unlike Coinbase, which focuses exclusively on digital assets, eToro offers exposure to both traditional and crypto markets through social investing features and copy trading, allowing users to mirror the trades of top investors. 
The platform currently supports trading in more than 80 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) and Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>).

eToro Eyes $5B Valuation In Nasdaq IPO, Sets Price Range At $46–$50 Per Share

Gold prices climbed above $3,380 per ounce Tuesday, reaching a new high as investors sought safe-haven assets amid escalating trade tensions. The precious metal gained $90 in Monday&#8217;s session before adding another $45 in early trading.
What Happened: &#8220;Gold is up another $45 so far tonight, trading above $3,380. With today&#8217;s $90 gain, that&#8217;s already $135 within one 24-hour period,&#8221; noted economist Peter Schiff on X. &#8220;Silver is also starting to perk up. It&#8217;s adding another 50 cents to today&#8217;s gains, trading above $33.10. Keep an eye on silver. A breakout is near.&#8221;
The rally comes as President Donald Trump expanded tariffs, threatening 100% tariffs on foreign-produced films and announcing plans for pharmaceutical tariffs in the coming weeks. This follows already imposed steep 145% tariffs on Chinese goods that have rattled global markets.
Silver prices also surged nearly 2% to around $33 per ounce on Tuesday, extending gains from the previous session. In response to a follower suggesting silver needs to top $36 before moving to $50, Schiff replied, &#8220;I&#8217;d say a close above $35 would trigger that move.&#8221;

What Happened: Bitcoin wobbled between the mid-$93,000s and the early $95,000s, with the apex cryptocurrency hitting an intraday high of $95,193.19.

The majority of Binance traders with open BTC positions placed bearish bets on Bitcoin, according to the Long/Short Ratio.

Stocks snapped their winning run Monday. After nine consecutive days of gains, the S&amp;P 500 closed 0.64% lower at 5,650.38. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 98.60 points, or 0.24%, to end at 41,218.83. The tech-focused Nasdaq Composite dipped 0.74%, ending at 17,844.24.
The slide comes after Trump's proposed 100% tariff on <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/education/25/05/45187710/peter-schiff-says-trumps-100-tariff-on-foreign-films-pointless-without-targeting-streamingwarns-netflix-subscribers-would-bear-cost">foreign-produced movies</a> sent jitters across the entertainment sector. Shares of Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIS#NYSE">DIS</a>) and Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WBD#NASDAQ">WBD</a>) lost 0.41% and 1.99%, respectively, during the session.
Meanwhile, the impasse over the trade deal between the U.S. and China prevailed as Trump said <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/25/05/45188171/china-pushes-for-special-envoys-as-direct-deal-with-trump-deemed-risky-plans-fentanyl-concessions-as-negotiating-leverage-report">he did not plan to talk</a> with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Investors will now turn their attention to the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45192387/market-bets-on-aggressive-fed-cuts-clash-with-short-rate-market-data-next-fed-chair-could-initiate-cutting-cycle-says-expert">Federal Reserve&#8217;s policy meeting</a>, which starts on Tuesday.

Analyst Notes: Blockchain analytics firm CryptoQuant highlighted that despite Ethereum's prolonged downtrend, accumulating addresses have not abandoned their strategy, showcasing their long-term belief in the asset.
"Instead, they increased their ETH exposure: on March 10, they held 15.5356 million ETH, and by May 3, this rose to 19.0378 million ETH, a 22.54% increase," CryptoQuant added.

Bitcoin, Ethereum Flat, Dogecoin Dips Even As Trump Calls Crypto 'Popular:' Analyst Says BTC Build-up Good, Predicts ETH Uptrend After Fed Meet

Riot Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RIOT#NASDAQ">RIOT</a>) shares are trading lower Monday following the release of its April 2025 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/05/45185243/world-libertys-stablecoin-in-2-billion-deal-sofi-reintroduces-crypto-and-riot-platforms-q1-results-this-week-in-crypto">production and operations update.</a>
What To Know: The company mined 463 Bitcoin in April, down 13% from March's 533. The daily average production also declined from 17.2 BTC to 15.4 BTC, a 10% decrease month-over-month. Riot attributed the drop to two consecutive network difficulty adjustments during the month.
Despite the decline in production, year-over-year figures showed improvement, with a 23% increase in both total and daily average Bitcoin mined compared to April 2024. The company sold all 475 Bitcoin produced in April, generating $38.8 million in net proceeds at an average price of $81,731 per coin. Riot stated it chose to sell its Bitcoin to fund growth and operations, aiming to limit dilution from equity fundraising.
Hash rate metrics were flat or slightly down. The deployed hash rate remained unchanged at 33.7 EH/s, while the average operating hash rate slipped 3% from March to 29.3 EH/s. Power credits rose to $2 million, more than doubling from the previous month. Riot also completed its acquisition of Rhodium's assets at the Rockdale Facility during April, ending its last remaining hosting agreement and fully exiting the Bitcoin hosting business.

Analyst Notes: Cryptocurrency analyst and trader Ali Martinez warned about a potential Bitcoin pullback, citing a "sell signal" by the TD Sequential indicator.
"If Bitcoin were to lose the $94,765 support level, a price correction to $90,000 or even $86,000 could follow," Martinez projected.
Typically, parabolic slope patterns are characterized by a steep, rapid, and exponential rise in price, followed by a sharp decline.

What Happened: Bitcoin reached an intraday high of $97,437.96 in the early trading hours, then fell to roughly $96,500 in the afternoon before making a fresh move past $97,000 overnight.
Ethereum peaked at $1,872.94 for the day before pulling back to $1,835. Both assets saw an appreciable spike in trading volumes.
Bitcoin's market dominance rose to a yearly high of 63.8%, implying that investors were more confident in the "King Coin" relative to other cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin&#8217;s uptick comes a day after the U.S. economy contracted in the first quarter, with investors possibly <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/04/45100047/recession-odds-spike-wall-street-tumbles-as-q1-gdp-surprisingly-contracts-be-patient-trump-responds">considering it as a safe haven</a> in times of economic turmoil.
The upsurge resulted in $209 million in cryptocurrency liquidations, with $154 million in bearish shorts erased.
Bitcoin&#8217;s Open Interest exploded 8.21% to $66.93 billion in the last 24 hours, marking a jump in leverage and potential market volatility. Interestingly, despite the surge, the majority of Binance traders with open BTC positions were short as of this writing.
The market returned to "Greed" sentiment, according to the Crypto Fear and Greed Index.

Analyst Notes: Seasoned trader Peter Brandt said Bitcoin was on target to reach the bull cycle top between $125,000 and $150,000 by August or September if it can "regain the broken parabolic slope." From then on, Brandt projected a 50% pullback.

The company&#8217;s cryptocurrency arm, Robinhood Crypto, allows users to trade in popular coins such as Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>), Dogecoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/doge/usd">DOGE</a>), and others.
Why It Matters: The fall in volume and revenue followed a marked contraction in the cryptocurrency market in the first quarter, with total capitalization falling by more than 18%. Notably, Bitcoin and Ethereum plunged 11.82% and 45.41%, respectively, during the period.
During the earnings call, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said it was normal for trading volumes to fluctuate, but he was pleased that the company&#8217;s market share was intact.
Tenev also talked about diversifying the business away from cryptocurrency. "We're diversifying the business outside of the crypto business, which will make us less reliant on crypto transaction volumes," the CEO said.

Analyst Notes: Blockchain analytics firm CryptoQuant highlighted the new all-time high in Bitcoin's realized capitalization, at over $880 billion.
"Historically, large accumulations of realized capitalization have been mostly followed by considerable price increases in Bitcoin," CryptoQuant stated. It added that the price could see an "explosion" if the accumulations continue.
Realized capitalization measures the total acquisition cost of all coins in circulation, as opposed to the market capitalization, which uses the current price.

Tech investor Chamath Palihapitiya highlighted the rising dominance of stablecoins in the global financial system Tuesday, deeming them one of the hottest cryptocurrency narratives besides Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>).
What Happened: As part of his deep dive into the stablecoin market, Palihapitiya noted that stablecoins&#8217; weekly transaction volumes have exceeded that of Visa Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/V#NYSE">V</a>).
These findings were corroborated by a recent report by asset management firm Bitwise, which <a href="https://s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/static.bitwiseinvestments.com/Research/Bitwise-Crypto-Market-Review-Q1-2025.pdf">showed </a>stablecoin transaction volumes overtaking the payments giant by 2024.
