<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Growing Pay Divide</h2>
Reich&#8217;s post drew on data from a 2024 <a href="https://www.epi.org/publication/ceo-pay-in-2023/">report</a> by the Economic Policy Institute, which shows that while CEO compensation dipped in 2023, the long-term trend is unmistakable: executive pay has exploded over the last four decades.
In 2023, CEOs at the top 350 U.S. firms earned 290 times more than the average worker. That's a huge jump from 1965, when the ratio was just 21 to one.
The report also found that CEO compensation has increased far faster than even the earnings of the top 0.1% of wage earners, indicating it&#8217;s not just about market competition for talent. &#8220;CEO compensation reflects substantial &#8216;rents&#8217; (income in excess of actual productivity),&#8221; the authors wrote.

One reason for this, the report says, is that CEOs have more sway over their pay than most workers do. Their compensation is heavily tied to stock performance and negotiated with corporate boards that often lack independence. In 2023, stock-related pay made up 77.6% of total CEO compensation.
Meanwhile, average worker pay has only seen a modest increase, just 24% since 1978, despite a 74.8% rise in overall productivity during that time.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Policy Proposals to Close the Gap</h2>
The EPI report says this imbalance is a key driver of income inequality. &#8220;If very high earners hadn&#8217;t pulled away so dramatically, there would be room for broader-based wage growth for the rest of the workforce,&#8221; it notes.

To rein in executive pay, the report suggests policies such as <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/05/45317302/trump-renews-effort-to-hike-taxes-on-wealthy-americans-holds-talks-with-mike-johnson-report">raising taxes on top incomes</a>, tying corporate tax rates to CEO-to-worker pay ratios, and giving shareholders more power to approve or reject executive compensation packages.
Reich's post comes amid broader conversations about wage fairness, labor strikes, and inflation. His question touches a nerve in today's economy: why is there always money for the top, but not for the base?

 CRH PLC (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CRH#NYSE">CRH</a>): The building materials company saw strong interest from Benzinga readers during the week. There was minimal news for the company outside of a recent quarterly financial report in early May. The company <a href="https://www.crh.com/media/press-releases/2025/crh-q1-2025-results">reported </a>revenue growth of 3% year-over-year with a figure that beat Street estimates. The company missed analyst estimates for earnings per share. Bernstein initiated coverage on the stock with an Outperform rating shortly after financial results. CRH CEO Jim Mintern said the first quarter results showed strength and highlighted the company's differentiated strategy and recent acquisitions.
"Although the first quarter is typically the seasonally least significant period for our business, we are encouraged by the continued strength of underlying demand across our key markets," Mintern said.

This marked more than 10 straight quarters or earnings per share that beat analyst estimates. The company beat analyst revenue estimates in the quarter, marking nine straight quarters of beating analyst estimates. Analysts were <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/MPWR/analyst-ratings">mixed on the quarter </a>with strong ratings remaining but several price targets taken lower.

In April, the company beat earnings per share and revenue estimates from analysts, marking more than 10 straight quarters of beats for both figures. Sales were up 48% year-over-year in the first quarter with strong organic growth and contributions from recent acquisitions. Analysts raised<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/APH/analyst-ratings"> the price targets </a>after the results and more are diving into the stock in recent weeks. UBS recently maintained a Buy rating on the stock and raised the price target from $85 to $106. Citi maintained a Buy rating and raised the price target from $85 to $100. The stock was up over 8% for the week and shares are up over 35% in the last year. Amphenol could be one of the top stocks to watch heading into its next earnings report after a series of consecutive beats and analyst price target increases.

The company reported sales growth of 9.4% year-over-year with sales beating analyst estimates. Earnings per share from the company missed Street estimates in the quarter. Likely helping the company the most was reaffirming its full-year financial guidance in the<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45536279/home-depot-accelerates-supply-chain-diversification-shifts-sourcing-away-from-single-countries-management-sees-limited-impact-from-tariffs"> wake of tariffs. </a>Home Depot did not specifically mention tariffs, but discussed potential supply chain risks, while remaining optimistic on the full-year outlook.

&#8220;If you want to be excellent at anything—sports, music, business, politics—there's going to be times of your life when you're out of balance, where you're just working and you're single-minded," Obama said.
He recalled the demanding 18-month grind of his first presidential campaign, during which his wife Michelle Obama carried much of the family burden alone while also working full-time.

After taking office, Obama made a personal rule to have dinner every night at 6:30 p.m. with Michelle and their daughters, even if he had to return to work later. "They ground you and give you perspective, and over time, that makes you better."
Obama also stressed the importance of mutual support in relationships. "You can have it all—but you can't have it all at once," he said.

최근 증권거래위원회(SEC)에 제출된 13F 공시에 따르면, 글로벌 투자은행들이 암호화폐 관련 상장지수펀드(ETF)와 비트코인 대리 종목인 마이크로스트레티지에 대해 상당한 지분을 보유하고 있다는 사실이 밝혀졌다.
<h3>JP모건 체이스</h3>
시가총액 기준 세계 최대 은행인 JP모건 체이스는 9월 30일 마감 분기에 비트코인과 이더리움 ETF에 상당한 투자를 했다.
JP모건은 iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IBIT#NASDAQ">IBIT</a>) 387주를 13,982달러에 매입했는데, 이는 지난 분기에 모두 매도한 후 다시 매입한 것이다. 또한 Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund(BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FBTC#BATS">FBTC</a>)에도 자금을 재할당해 213주를 11,877달러에 매입했다.
전반적으로 JP모건의 비트코인 ETF 노출액은 거의 65,000달러에 달했다.
그리고 JP모건은 처음으로 이더리움 ETF에 진입하면서 Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ETHE#NYSE">ETHE</a>)와 그 미니 버전인 Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ETH#NYSE">ETH</a>)에 상당한 투자를 했다. 두 펀드에 대한 총 투자액은 30,700달러였다.
암호화폐 노출을 늘리려는 시도 속에서 JP모건은 마이크로스트레티지 포트폴리오를 12.5% 증가시켜 660,693주로 늘렸고, 이는 1억 1,139만 달러에 달한다.
<h3>골드만삭스</h3>
또 다른 월가 거대 은행인 골드만삭스(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GS#NYSE">GS</a>)는 지난주 13F 서류를 제출했다.

한편, 골드만삭스는 2,516만 달러 규모의 이더리움 ETF를 보유하고 있으며, 이는 Grayscale의 Mini Trust(ETH)와 Fidelity의 이더리움 펀드(BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FETH#BATS">FETH</a>)에 분산되어 있다.
