Sangamo Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SGMO#NASDAQ">SGMO</a>) shares are surging in Thursday&#8217;s after-hours session after the company announced a new agreement with <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/b44635260/sangamo-therapeutics-announces-capsid-license-agreement-with-lilly-to-deliver-genomic-medicines-fo">pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly And Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LLY#NYSE">LLY</a>)</a>.
What Happened: Sangamo Therapeutics entered into a license agreement with Eli Lilly, granting the company a worldwide exclusive license to leverage the company&#8217;s novel proprietary neurotropic adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsid, STAC-BBB.
Sangamo noted that STAC-BBB has demonstrated potent blood-brain barrier penetration and neuronal transduction in nonhuman primates.
The genomic medicine company said the license allows Eli Lilly to utilize the STAC-BBB capsid for one initial target. Eli Lilly has the right to add up to four additional targets, but will be required to pay additional license fees.
Sangamo will receive an upfront payment of $18 million and is eligible to earn up to $1.4 billion in additional license fees and milestone payments.
&#8220;We believe STAC-BBB, our industry-leading intravenously delivered AAV capsid, has the potential to play an important role in the treatment landscape by addressing longstanding challenges associated with delivering therapies to the central nervous system,&#8221; said Sandy Macrae, CEO of Sangamo.
&#8220;We are pleased to be sharing STAC-BBB with Lilly to advance potential treatments for neurological diseases with significant unmet medical needs. This marks the third agreement with a pharmaceutical company since we announced the discovery of STAC-BBB in March 2024 and demonstrates the continued industry interest in our capsid delivery technology.&#8221;
Sangamo will be responsible for completing a technology transfer related to the STAC-BBB capsid. Lilly will be responsible for all research, preclinical and clinical development, regulatory interactions, manufacturing and global commercialization of any resulting gene therapy products.

JPMorgan Research has upgraded its outlook for <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/mining">European mining equities</a>, shifting more positive in February and then upgrading the outlook to Overweight in March. The research team cited a pattern of the sector outperforming through economic turbulences, believing a historical pattern could repeat.
Yet analysts acknowledge that the prediction hinges on the timing of China&#8217;s policy response—an important factor since its economy accounts for over 50% of global demand for most industrial metals. JPMorgan forecasts the reaction will focus on fiscal and monetary easing rather than property sector stimulus.
Owing to U.S. tariff policies, the bank now sees a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44608617/jp-morgan-hikes-us-recession-odds-to-40-tariffs-create-a-dilemma-for-the-fed">40% chance of a domestic recession</a> this year, and China's GDP slowdown to 3% in Q2, down from 6.6% in Q1.&nbsp; With reciprocal tariffs, the effective rate on Chinese goods has now jumped to 54%, close to the bank's base case scenario of 60%.
Analysts have pointed out that European miners face limited direct exposure, although Rio Tinto's (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RIO#NYSE">RIO</a>) Canadian aluminum operations are affected. Still, the sector's upside depends on copper price stability. A sustained copper rally could present a multi-year entry point, but downside risks include demand destruction from a global recession and a weaker Chinese yuan, which historically correlates with lower metal prices.
The bank highlights Antofagasta (OTCPK: ANFGF) as its Overweight pick, citing its 15–30% volume growth through 2027–28 and attractive valuation as its Centinela expansion ramps up. It also favors Lundin Mining (OTCPK: LUNMF), arguing it trades at a discount, close to 5X EV/EBITDA, compared to peers, which trade at 9-10X. Furthermore, it faces reduced governance risks <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/07/40031488/bhp-to-unlock-south-american-copper-riches-partners-with-lundin-for-filo-acquisition">following Vicuña transactions</a>. Regarding the sector leaders, they're Overweight Rio Tinto (citing inexpensive valuation and high copper upside) and Neutral on Anglo American and BHP.
On the downside, the bank is Underweight Boliden, pointing to lower treatment and refining charges, exposure to zinc, and integration challenges after acquiring Lundin's two European mines for <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42385859/lundin-exits-europe-for-15-billion-turns-focus-to-south-america">$1.5 billion last year</a>.
The bank remains bullish on EMEA gold miners, projecting a 30% rise in gold prices to ~$4,000/oz amid geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty. The top pick is Fresnillo (OTCPK: FNLPF), which it sees benefiting from potential Mexican peso weakness.
European steel equities are less favored due to direct tariff exposure, particularly in auto-dependent firms like ThyssenKrupp and Voestalpine (~30–40% revenue exposure). Furthermore, the bank sees ArcelorMittal facing $400 million in annual EBITDA headwinds from tariffs, but clarifies that SSAB stands out with 45% of EBITDA from the U.S. infrastructure and defense sectors, insulating it from broader tariff risks.

JPMorgan Turns Bullish On European Miners, Sees Copper Rally As Key Catalyst

When volatility spikes, as it did yesterday following the reveal of the President&#8217;s new import taxes, &#8220;tape bombs&#8221; appear everywhere. As a trader and long term investor, when that happens I zoom out in the charts.
There are times in the markets where risk becomes more outsized, and this is one of those times. Size down, slow down becomes my mantra. Capital preservation becomes key.
There are option trades that let you do just that – preserve capital, wait out the churn, while still making some options income.
Here&#8217;s how to ignore the market chaos and position yourself for profits.
We&#8217;re going to target ONEOK Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/OKE#NYSE">OKE</a>) today, with a long call butterfly. This kind of option trade is the combination of a long call spread, and a short call spread that share the same short strike and the same expiration date.
We&#8217;re positioning the option trade well into the future (using a bullish position that gives us time to wait out the sideways churn ahead), which is why it&#8217;s termed a &#8220;leap&#8221; trade.
OKE&#8217;s relative resistance zone sits right around $120, but trading could be choppy for many months with market uncertainty. Set an alert for prices near this middle strike so that you are very aware of the motion into the middle strike as this is where the maximum profit will engage into expiration. You will also notice that price action is less sensitive to fluctuation the further we are from expiration. OKE&#8217;s support sits near $88.
The beauty of a leap butterfly is that time decay becomes largely irrelevant, so we can wait out the noisy bits in the market as we recover. Here&#8217;s the trade, positioned for upside:

<li>Sell to open 2 OKE 18 Jun 2025 120 calls </li>
<li>Buy to open 1 OKE 18 Jun 2025 135 calls </li>
</ul>
The long call butterfly holds a current debit of $2.38 at this writing and that represents the total risk incurred in the trade. The breakeven price of the stock at expiration on this trade is $107.38 + commissions.
The total highest potential profit is $15 (the distance between 105 and 120) less the cost of the debit incurred by buying the call butterfly: $15 minus $2.38 = $12.62 less commissions.&nbsp;
It is extremely rare to collect all this premium in this kind of butterfly. Instead, I like to consider 40%-90% profit of the longer-term investment. Also keep in mind that these leaps have favorable tax implications.
This strategy provides for several ways to exit, but these are the two main ones:
<ol>
<li>To sell the call butterfly when the profit goal moves into your target parameters-particularly once the middle strike is tested near the expiration time. I often look for 40%-90% return for these types of call butterflies with strikes deep in the money. </li>
<li>To sell the call butterfly when your loss threshold is breached. Customarily, this is 50% for me. </li>
</ol>
Remember to size down as markets fluctuate – it is more important to focus more on what we can lose than on what we can make.

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci probably <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/04/44608167/liberation-day-is-liquidation-day-says-anthony-scaramucci-heres-how-it-could-hit-your-wallet">said it the best</a>: "Liberation Day is Liquidation Day." Describing the sweeping wave of new tariffs announced on Wednesday by President Donald Trump, the reciprocal levies are designed to help American workers and revive U.S. manufacturing. 
Unfortunately, the move is creating a ripple effect on pricing implications, badly hurting technology specialists, including integrated circuits manufacturer Tower Semiconductor Ltd (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSEM#NASDAQ">TSEM</a>).
At first glance, Tower doesn't particularly stand out as a tariff-vulnerable candidate. Although based in Israel, the U.S. has a close relationship with the country. According to the New York Times, the two allies have had a free-trade <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/02/us/politics/israel-tariffs-us-imports-trump.html#:~:text=Israel%20and%20the%20United%20States%2C%20two%20close%20allies%2C%20have%20had,American%20products%20from%20Israeli%20tariffs.">agreement</a> since 1985. However, the core issue centers on the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44613907/tariff-shock-incoming-as-trump-prepares-sweeping-trade-duties-what-traders-need-to-know">stability of the global supply chain</a>.
Modern businesses — especially within the advanced semiconductor industry — require specialized parts and materials that are secured months in advance. Further, the research and development of advanced components can take years, requiring significant investments and partnerships across multiple entities. Plus, with so much of the tech ecosystem dependent on Asia, Trump's tariffs darken forward visibility.
More broadly, TSEM stock is also struggling from competitive threats. Earlier this year, China's DeepSeek rattled the tech sector, delivering an artificial intelligence model that could <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/43259545/deepseeks-r1-is-impressive-but-openai-ceo-sam-altman-says-they-will-crush-it-with-much-better-models-looking-forward-to-bringing-you-all-agi-and-beyond">compete with western counterparts at a much lower cost</a>. Such efficiencies potentially impinge upon Tower's business due to less demand for high-performance chips or even a potential realignment of supply chains.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">TSEM Stock Enjoys Credibility as a Bounce-Back Prospect</h2>
Although the environment for TSEM stock appears incredibly dour, students of market history will look on the red ink with anticipation, not dread. More often than not, the ominous clouds have represented an opportunity to acquire shares.
First, Benchmark analyst Cody Acree stated that TSEM stock was one of the names to pick up following January's DeepSeek-inspired rout. The expert noted the company's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/01/43285482/tower-semiconductor-analyst-sees-attractive-buying-opportunity-following-deepseek-selloff">resilience and growth potential</a>, specifically highlighting its leadership in radio frequency (RF) infrastructure technologies. This innovation is especially critical to applications involving the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Tower's key specialty. Second, while TSEM stock printed the dreaded death cross earlier this week, this technical pattern — where the 50-day moving average slips below the 200 DMA — has historically served as a contrarian indicator. Between August 2015 and October 2022, there have been seven death crosses, with five of the incidences (or 71.4%) resolving to the upside one month later.
To be sure, the sample size is very small, so the implication needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, it's remarkable that even one year removed from the death cross flashing, the contrarian success ratio of 71.4% still stands.

Still, Cuban is clear: AI lacks the gut instinct that makes creative work resonate with audiences. "There is a reason why some people have hit after hit&#8230; They have a feel for what the audience wants at that point in time," he said.
