Thenormajeane5, who is currently working toward a doctoral degree, explained that after graduating in about two and a half years, he plans to keep pursuing associate degrees for the rest of his life in order to remain a lifelong student and postpone repayment indefinitely.&nbsp;
The creative approach resonated with thousands online, racking up nearly 500,000 likes and more than 11,000&nbsp; comments.&nbsp;
Many viewers shared similar stories. One commenter said their professor had over $800,000 in student loans and was still enrolled, joking that he'd never pay it back. Another mentioned their grandmother, who kept enrolling in new degrees and was about to graduate with her master's degree.&nbsp;
Others described using employer tuition reimbursement programs to keep taking classes, or simply repeating the deferment strategy for years.&nbsp;

A 22-year-old college student called into &#8220;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Sg4BQWIYyo">The Ramsey Show</a>&#8221; and said he was being financially &#8220;abused&#8221; by his parents. The student, identified only as Tyler, said he had been following Dave Ramsey&#8216;s <a href="http://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/05/45680116/couple-making-200k-wants-to-invest-60-of-their-income-dave-ramsey-says-thats-great-but-build-up-a-fat-juicy-down-payment-for-a-house-instead">baby steps</a> and recently used a school refund to pay off debt. His parents were not happy about it.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Student Loan Refund Sparks Family Drama</h2>
&#8220;I got my refund from school in May and it was close to about $4,000—exactly $3,999,&#8221; Tyler told hosts Jade Warshaw and Ken Coleman. &#8220;I used that money to pay off my debt, my car payment, and a little bit of my credit card payment.&#8221;

Tyler said his parents were furious, claiming the money was theirs. &#8220;They were just absolutely furious about me, saying that that was their money and about the hard work they did to put me out here,&#8221; he explained.
He summed up the situation in one sentence: &#8220;My parents are financially abusing me.&#8221;
Coleman asked for clarification: was the refund from money Tyler had earned through work, or was it part of a student loan? Tyler said it was a mix of both—federal work-study and student loan overage.
When asked whose name was on the loan, Tyler replied, &#8220;I believe it&#8217;s mom and then me. I believe I&#8217;m the co-signer on it.&#8221;
That raised a red flag for the hosts. &#8220;You should have communicated with the parents because they&#8217;re involved in this financially,&#8221; Coleman told him..
Warshaw agreed, saying that while <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/how-to-pay-off-debt">paying off debt</a> was a smart instinct, Tyler should have talked to his mom first. &#8220;If your mom was like, &#8216;Wait a minute, you took this loan money that we&#8217;re both on the hook for to do this thing without consulting both of us,&#8217; I can see that,&#8221; she said.

Tyler accused his parents of financially abusing him, but both hosts pushed back on the use of that word.
&#8220;I see no evidence of that,&#8221; Warshaw said bluntly. &#8220;You&#8217;re 22 now. Your parents can make suggestions, they can even try to strong-arm you to do things their way, but you don&#8217;t have to.&#8221;
Coleman was more direct: &#8220;You need to stop saying they&#8217;re financially abusing you because this is not anywhere close to it. It&#8217;s dramatic, and by the way, words matter.&#8221;
Tyler claimed the tension comes from his parents&#8217; spending habits. &#8220;They&#8217;re both spenders&#8230; My mom just bought a brand new Mercedes. My dad spends money constantly on his new truck,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They&#8217;ve always been haggling me for money.&#8221;
He also said they pressured him to help pay for a down payment on a truck—something he didn't want to do. Warshaw responded, &#8220;Then you don&#8217;t have to do it.&#8221;

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Future Debt Could Tie Him To Parents Even More</h2>
The conversation shifted toward Tyler&#8217;s financial future. He currently has $40,000 in student loans and expects it to reach around $80,000 after finishing his degree in sports management at the University of Tennessee.
&#8220;You&#8217;re following in [your parents&#8217;] footsteps right now because you are taking on debt and you&#8217;re <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/24/11/41914082/dave-ramsey-says-its-stupid-to-go-into-debt-for-a-career-you-dont-borrow-money-to-cross-state-lines">going to an out-of-state school</a>,&#8221; Warshaw said. She advised Tyler to consider in-state options or work his way through school without borrowing more money, especially since his mother is on the loans.
&#8220;Mama&#8217;s going to be breathing down your neck every month, talking about, &#8216;Where&#8217;s the payment? You&#8217;re messing up my credit,'&#8221; she warned. &#8220;And that is going to jack you and her.&#8221;
Coleman added, &#8220;Nobody cares where you get your degree from. There&#8217;s a better way, Tyler.&#8221;

Michael Saylor's Strategy (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSTR#NASDAQ">MSTR</a>), the world's largest corporate holder of Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) on Monday introduced a new preferred stock product: Series A Stride Preferred (STRD) is designed to provide a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/25/06/45718471/michael-saylors-strategy-outperforms-apple-tesla-amazon-and-other-mag-7-stocks-and-its-not-even-close-has-the-bitcoin-treasury-bet-paid-off">high-yield return for long-term investors.</a>
The STRD <a href="https://x.com/saylor/status/1929871463521136697">offering</a> marks the company's third preferred instrument as it continues building a structured and diversified capital stack anchored in Bitcoin exposure.
STRD delivers a fixed 10% dividend with perpetual duration and ranks below Strategy's senior preferred instrument (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STRF#NASDAQ">STRF</a>), but above the firm's common equity.
It is structured to sit at the riskier end of the firm's yield curve but compensates investors with its highest payout to date among Strategy's preferred options.
Unlike (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STRF#NASDAQ">STRF</a>), which prioritizes capital preservation and mimics the risk profile of investment-grade fixed income, STRD is intended for investors seeking higher returns despite increased subordination.
Meanwhile, Strategy's other product STRK (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STRK#NASDAQ">STRK</a>) offers an 8% dividend and the added benefit of convertibility, placing it squarely between STRF and STRD in terms of both yield and risk.
Strategy's common stock MSTR remains the base layer of its capital stack, functioning as the firm's core vehicle for leveraged Bitcoin exposure.
The STRD issuance is non-callable in typical market conditions, though it may be repurchased if certain events occur, such as a major corporate restructuring or tax-related change.

Dividends will be distributed quarterly, in cash, but only at the discretion of the board.
The firm claims STRD compares favorably to other high-yield investment vehicles on the market. 
For example, unlike ETFs such as iShares Preferred &amp; Income Securities ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PFF#NASDAQ">PFF</a>) and iShares Broad USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USHY#NASDAQ">USHY</a>), STRD carries no management fees and offers a stronger yield proposition: 10% versus 7–8% for its ETF counterparts, while maintaining comparable volatility.
This new product aligns with Strategy's broader push to merge structured financial instruments with crypto exposure. 
The goal: deliver yield, diversification and exposure to digital assets in formats that fit traditional investment portfolios.
According to the company, the launch of STRD further extends its commitment to modernizing capital formation strategies using a layered and yield-tiered approach rooted in both crypto conviction and financial discipline.

SOMERSET, N.J., June 03, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Legend Biotech Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LEGN#NASDAQ">LEGN</a>) (Legend Biotech), a global leader in cell therapy, announced today new long-term results from the CARTITUDE-1 study in heavily pretreated relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) patients. RRMM patients were treated with a single infusion of CARVYKTI&#xAE; (ciltacabtagene autoleucel; cilta-cel) with no maintenance or subsequent myeloma therapy. Notably, an unprecedented 33% (32 of 97) of patients remained progression-free for five years or more.
