But this <a href="https://www.morningstar.com/news/marketwatch/20230920269/lithium-supply-may-tighten-in-the-years-ahead-driving-prices-higher-along-with-it" target="_blank">tightening of the lithium supply</a> is likely to provide a boost to lithium prices. 이 투자로 토요타의 조비에 대한 총 지분은 8억 9천 4백만 달러로 증가하며, 현금으로 보통주를 매입하는 방식으로 진행된다.
조비 에비에이션의 창립자이자 CEO인 조벤 베버트(JoeBen Bevirt)는 &#8220;오늘의 투자는 우리 두 회사 간의 거의 7년 간의 협력을 바탕으로 한다&#8221;고 말했다.
2024년 10월 1일, 조비 에비에이션은 토요타와 주식 매입 계약을 체결하였으며, 이에 따라 최대 9,940만 주의 주식을 주당 5.03달러에 사모 방식으로 발행 및 판매할 수 있게 되었다고 규제 <a href="https://www.sec.gov/ix?doc=/Archives/edgar/data/1819848/000181984824000397/joby-20241001.htm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">신고서</a>에 나타났다.
이번 자금은 조비의 전기 항공 택시 인증 및 상업 생산을 지원하며, 상업화 초기 단계에 대한 제조 동맹 구축 계획도 포함된다.
토요타와 조비의 관계는 포트폴리오 회사를 지원하는 동시에 혁신적인 기술과 투자 기회를 모색하는 이 회사의 초기 벤처 캐피털 계열사인 토요타 벤처(Toyota Ventures)의 초기 투자로 시작되었다.
이후 토요타의 추가 투자로 총 투자액이 3억 9,400만 달러로 증가하였다.
조비는 최근 캘리포니아 마리나에 있는 파일럿 생산 라인에서 세 번째 항공기를 출시하고, 제조 공간을 두 배 이상 확장할 새로운 시설 건설을 시작하는 등 상업화에 대한 중요한 진전을 이루고 있다.
2024년 8월 기준으로 조비는 유형 인증 프로세스의 5단계 중 4단계를 1/3 이상 완료했다고 확인했다.
베버트는 &#8220;토요타가 공유한 지식과 지원은 조비의 성공에 중요한 역할을 했으며, 우리는 항공 여행의 미래에 대한 공동 비전을 실현하면서 관계를 더욱 심화해 나가기를 기대한다&#8221;고 덧붙였다.
지난달 조비는 아랍에미리트(UAE)에서 인증된 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/09/b40788072/joby-applies-to-become-first-certified-electric-air-taxi-operator-in-uae" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-google-interstitial="false">항공 택시 사업자</a>가 되기 위한 첫 단계를 공개했다.
투자자들은 WisdomTree Trust WisdomTree Battery Value Chain and Innovation Fund(BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WBAT#BATS">WBAT</a>)를 통해 이 주식에 노출될 수 있다.
