U.S. stock futures were trading lower on Tuesday after Monday&#8217;s decline as the new administration&#8217;s tariffs continued to spook the market.
On Monday, Mexico&#8217;s president Claudia Sheinbaum reached a deal with President Donald Trump to delay tariffs by increasing Mexico's military presence on the US border. Later, after a call between Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, tariffs on Canada were also suspended for 30 days.
All major index futures were down. Google parent Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>), Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>), Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PFE#NYSE">PFE</a>), PepsiCo Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PEP#NASDAQ">PEP</a>) and Spotify Technology SA (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPOT#NYSE">SPOT</a>) are expected to report earnings today.
The 10-year Treasury yield stood at 4.58%, while the two-year yield was at 4.25%. According to the CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a>, there is an 86.5% chance that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates unchanged for the March meeting.

Highlighting the tariff impact, economist Jeremy Siegel said that the prospect of new trade barriers introduces another layer of volatility, with markets reacting negatively to the uncertainty.
&#8220;History has shown that tariffs are rarely viewed as a net positive for equities, and while they could lead to a temporary bump in inflation and price levels, the Fed is unlikely to respond to a one-time inflationary shock,&#8221; he added.
While Mexican and Canadian tariffs were paused, Siegel, who is the senior economist at WisdomTree and a former professor at the University of Pennsylvania added that &#8220;Trump's new tariffs are not smart either economically or politically&#8221;.
&#8220;The political impact is likely to be very negative for Trump's program, as the rise in prices (gasoline and some food items) will have high visibility in the mainstream media and put pressure on some legislators,&#8221; he added.

U.S. stocks settled lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 100 points during the session after President Donald Trump announced plans to pause tariffs against Mexico for one month. The index dipped as much as 665.6 points earlier during the session.

Patient Direct revenue of $687 million, up 6% year-over-year, driven by strength in several categories led by diabetes and sleep supplies.
Products &amp; Healthcare Services revenue of $2.0 billion, up 5%, driven primarily by strong same-store sales in the Medical Distribution division and one additional sales day.
Third quarter 2024 operating income of $24 million and adjusted operating income of $84 million. Adjusted EBITDA increased 5% to $142 million.

Our Patient Direct segment continues to perform well in the growing home-based care space while we continue investing to support long-term profitable growth. In our Products &amp; Healthcare Services segment, we continue to see solid top-line results, especially within our Medical Distribution division supported by recent wins and deepened relationships with our existing customers," said Edward A. Pesicka, President &amp; Chief Executive Officer of Owens &amp; Minor.
Guidance:&nbsp;Owens &amp; Minor see full-year 2024 revenue of $10.6 billion-$10.8 billion compared to the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/08/40130112/healthcare-logistics-provider-owens-minor-calls-q2-performance-consistent-with-expectations-reitera" rel="noreferrer noopener">prior guidance of</a> $10.5 billion-$10.9 billion and consensus of $10.713 billion.
The healthcare logistics&nbsp;company expects 2024 adjusted EPS of $1.45-$1.55, compared to prior guidance of $1.40-$1.70 and the consensus of $1.60.
Pesicka concluded, "Looking ahead, we are confident in our ability to show good sequential growth and cash flow from the third to fourth quarter, which positions us well as we enter 2025. Each of the segments should benefit from seasonality and investments of the last several quarters as we finish 2024 and look to the future."
