This is a 48.35 percent decrease over earnings of $0.91 per share from the same period last year. What To Know: Shares of Trump Media &amp; Technology Group Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DJT#NASDAQ">DJT</a>), the parent company of social media platform Truth Social, are rallying Monday after a bullet grazed Trump&#8217;s ear at a campaign rally on Saturday. The former President was treated at a local hospital before being released Saturday night.

Trump Media, Other Trump-Linked Stocks Rally After Assassination Attempt On Former President

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/06/39358039/us-surgeon-general-calls-for-warning-labels-on-social-media-due-to-mental-health-risks">declared gun violence</a> a public health crisis Tuesday in a 39-page advisory.
What Happened: Murthy is imploring the nation to confront the issue with the same effort put toward reducing deaths and injuries from tobacco and motor vehicle accidents.
He also emphasized the significant physical and mental toll of gun violence on communities nationwide.
Deaths caused by guns climbed to a three-decade high in 2021 due to higher incidents of homicides and suicides, according to the advisory.
"I want people to understand the full impact of firearm violence in our country, and I want them to see it as a public health issue," Murthy told the Washington Post. "I know it's been polarizing and I know it's been politicized, but if we can see it as a public health issue, we can come together and implement a public health solution."
As of 2020, firearm-related injuries had become the No. 1 cause of death for children and adolescents ages 1 to 19 in the U.S. It exceeded those from vehicular accidents, cancer and heart disease.
Murthy said one of the reasons for the advisory is the rising number of mass shootings in the past decade, which he says has significant implications for mental health and the well-being of the country.

Why It Matters: There have been 15 mass killings (defined as an attack in which four or more people have died) so far in 2024, according <a href="https://projects.apnews.com/features/2023/mass-killings/index.html">to</a> The Associated Press. 
According to <a href="https://www.statista.com/topics/10843/mass-shootings-in-the-united-states/#editorsPicks">Statista.com</a>, 2017 had the greatest number of casualties from a mass shooting on record when a gunmen opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers in Las Vegas. Fifty-eight people died, with a total of <a href="https://www.statista.com/statistics/476101/worst-mass-shootings-in-the-us/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">604 victims</a>. 
After that shooting, then-President Donald Trump put in place <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/24/02/37364628/trump-era-gun-control-measure-faces-supreme-court-scrutiny-the-bump-stock-ban-to-be-reviewed">a ban on bump stocks</a>, an accessory that speeds up the rate of fire of semi-automatic weapons (he has since <a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-election-2024-nevada-south-carolina-a6339d7c607bc042bb01583876e129cb">told</a> NRA members that he "did nothing" on guns during his presidency).
Last week, the conservative-leaning Supreme Court <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/14/politics/supreme-court-bump-stocks/index.html">struck</a> down the ban. 
In March, President Joe Biden signed an executive order on gun control, strengthening background checks — <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/psychology/23/03/31367898/biden-signs-comprehensive-gun-control-bill-triggering-many-republicans">a move that angered Republicans</a>. 
He has also urged Congress to tighten gun laws following the Supreme Court ruling, and began circulating clips of Trump, a Republican, saying, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-tells-supporters-get-iowa-school-shooting-move-forward-rcna132610" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">"We have to get over it"</a> after an Iowa school shooting in January.
The U.S. had a firearm-related death rate 11.4 times higher than 28 other high-income nations, according to 2015 data from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization. 
Price action: Sturm &amp; Ruger Company, Inc. Labor market indicators such as job creation, wages, and layoffs are key data that could be important for determining the sustainability of the market rally, said Morgan Stanley&#8217;s Lisa Shalett. &#8220;With equity valuations already rich, can today's economic strength translate to positive surprises in company earnings? The answer likely hinges on what happens in the U.S. labor market,&#8221; she said.
If the labor market remains tight, with more jobs than available workers, companies may be pressured to raise wages, Shalett said, adding this could boost consumer spending but weigh on company profits. On the other hand, additional slack in the labor market could result in increased productivity and higher corporate profits, she said. &#8220;But there's a risk that a decline in jobs could also bring down consumer spending,&#8221; she said.
The key question is whether the economy strikes a balance between the two sides of that scale, Shalett said.

S&amp;P Global is due to release its flash U.S. manufacturing and service sector readings at 9:45 a.m. ET. The manufacturing purchasing managers&#8217; index is expected to dip from 50.7 in January to 50.5 in February, while the service sector PMI may have edged down from 52.5 to 52.4. Both sectors are expected to stay barely above the &#8217;50&#8217; mark, which demarcates expansion and contraction.
The National Association of Realtors will release its existing home sales report for January at 10 a.m. ET. Economists, on average, expect existing home sales to come in at a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 3.96 million units, slightly up from the previous quarter&#8217;s 3.78 million units.

The biggest risk for the market is the Fed, according to Fund Strat&#8217;s Tom Lee. The market needs to broaden for the sustenance of the rally and it&#8217;s going to broaden when interest-rate cuts begin to be priced in and investors begin to think about the roadmap, Lee <a href="https://twitter.com/LastCallCNBC/status/1760095988050506123">said</a> in a CNBC interview.
&#8220;If inflationary pressures don&#8217;t ease and the Fed starts to sort of second guess that, I think it puts a lot of pressure on stocks,&#8221; he said.
Although the probability of a Fed rate hike is very low if the market begins to price that in, it would put pressure on stocks, he added.

Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic is scheduled to give the welcoming remarks at the Airports Council International CFO Summit hosted by the Regional Economic Information Network of the regional Fed bank at 8 a.m. ET.
Richmond Fed President Thomas Barkin is scheduled to give a radio interview at 9:10 a.m. ET.
Fed Governor Michelle Bowman will make a public appearance at 1 p.m. ET.
The Treasury will auction 20-year bonds at 1 p.m. ET.
The Fed is due to release the minutes of the January rate-setting meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee at 2 p.m. ET. At the meeting, the central bank opted to leave the Fed funds rate unchanged at a 22-year high of 5.25%-5.50% for a fourth straight time. Chair Jerome Powell, however, spooked investors by adopting a hawkish tone in the post-meeting press conference. Traders will likely want to sift through the minutes to gain better clarity on the interest rate outlook.
