Citigroup will have around 2,000 staff in China after the tech job cuts, including a few hundred at the tech unit, Reuters reported on Thursday, citing unnamed sources&nbsp;familiar&nbsp;with the matter.
Citigroup had shared plans in May to cut close to 200 information technology contractor roles in China.

The restructuring and job cuts will likely reduce Citigroup&#8217;s overall headcount by 60,000, bringing it down to 180,000 by the end of 2026. This includes the departure of 40,000 employees following the IPO of its consumer banking businesses in Mexico.

Citi To Cut 3,500 Tech Jobs In China In Global Restructuring Spree

Wells Fargo &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WFC#NYSE">WFC</a>) just got a green light from the Federal Reserve to break free from a major regulatory handcuff, with Wall Street analysts saying the move could unlock double-digit earnings growth and rising <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/banks">confidence in the stock.</a>
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What Happened With The Fed's Asset Cap?</h3>
On June 3, the Federal Reserve removed the asset cap provision from its 2018 consent order against Wells Fargo. 
The restriction, imposed following a series of scandals tied to improper customer practices, had capped the bank's total assets at $1.95 trillion. 
While other parts of the order remain in place, lifting this specific cap eliminates a major constraint on growth.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Goldman Sachs: Up To 19% EPS Upside Now Possible</h3>
In a note shared on Wednesday, the bank&#8217;s analyst Richard Ramsden said that the asset cap was &#8220;the key limiting factor on WFC&#8217;s ability to grow,&#8221; and its removal could unleash &#8220;a number of idiosyncratic earnings drivers.&#8221;
Goldman updated its earnings outlook for Wells Fargo, estimating a 14–19% boost to earnings per share over time. 
That's roughly equivalent to a 200 to 280 basis point uplift in return on tangible common equity (ROTCE), potentially pushing the 2026 ROTCE range to 16.5%–17.3%.
That's a meaningful jump from the firm's previous estimate and reflects multiple drivers:

<li>New balance sheet capacity: Goldman also sees upside from issuing preferred equity and reinvesting proceeds across low-risk-weight businesses like securities and repo markets. This could generate ROTCEs between 11% and 15% on its own.</li>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bank Of America Sees Capital Gains And Business Expansion</h3>
&#8220;Removal of the asset-cap is a positive catalyst, both fundamentally and for stock valuation,&#8221; said Bank of America&#8217;s analyst Ebrahim Poonawala in a note to clients.
Poonawala raised his price target from $83 to $90, assigning higher valuation multiples based on improved clarity on growth prospects.
"Management bandwidth is increasingly refocused on franchise efficiency… after several years during which addressing regulatory concerns likely consumed 50%+ of management's attention," Poonawala said, citing a November 2024 meeting with CEO Charlie Scharf.
Poonawala indicated Wells Fargo is poised to grow earnings meaningfully through its corporate and investment banking arm, especially after the firm invested heavily in hiring experienced bankers like Doug Braunstein and Fernando Rivas. 
He forecasts that all four of Wells Fargo's core business segments could deliver best-in-class returns, with a 16%–19% ROTCE potential.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Market Reaction</h3>
Investors welcomed the news. Shares of Wells Fargo rose 3.1% during early trading on Wednesday, hitting their highest level since early March.
The stock is up nearly 8% year-to-date, underperforming large bank peers such as JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>) and Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/C#NYSE">C</a>).

Wells Fargo Freed From Fed Asset Cap: Goldman, BofA Predict Double-Digit Earnings Surge Ahead

Spotify Technology S.A. Goldman forecasts global paid subscribers will climb from 752 million in 2024 to 1.51 billion by 2035, with 75% of that growth coming from emerging markets—up from 57% today.
Spotify, which captured a 35% share of the global paid music streaming market in 2024 with 263 million subscribers, remains the dominant player along with Alphabet Inc.&#8216;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) YouTube and Tencent Music Entertainment Group (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TME#NYSE">TME</a>), particularly due to their bundling strategies and localized offerings in growth markets.
Goldman said Spotify gained 30 basis points in market share last year, following a 70 basis point increase in 2023.

Spotify has recently implemented strategic price hikes to support its evolving product model.
In May and July 2024, the company raised prices across several major markets, including the U.S., UK, and Australia. Yet, the increases primarily reflected added audiobook content rather than improved music margins.
Looking ahead, the Financial Times reported in April 2025 that Spotify will raise music-only plan prices by €1 across Europe and Latin America in early June. This would mark nearly two years since its last hike targeting the core music plan.
Goldman said that execution, scale and pricing power will determine future winners in a slower-growth music landscape.

While fintech startups exploded in valuation post-pandemic, many are now facing investor fatigue. According to Reuters, persistently high interest rates, recession concerns, and geopolitical volatility have forced many firms to delay fundraising or accept lower terms.
Airwallex has bucked that trend since its 11% increase in valuation from the previous round in 2022 is a signal of both operational strength and investor confidence. The company now counts industry giants like Shein, Qantas, and Xero among its client base, Reuters says.
CEO Jack Zhang told Reuters that more than 70% of the company's net revenue now comes from online payment processing and spend management, rather than just cross-border infrastructure.
