On Friday, BofA analyst Jessica Reif Ehrlich reiterated an Underperform on Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIRI#NASDAQ">SIRI</a>) with a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SIRI/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">price target of $21</a>.
Sirius XM is focused on overcoming several near-term challenges, some within and some outside of its control, as well as a period of elevated capex and leverage, with the aim of generating $1.5 billion in free cash flow for 2027.
Subscriber churn has stayed historically low in recent years, and Sirius XM has been focused on new pricing and packaging offers to improve value further.

Meanwhile, one-time headwinds will pressure subscribers in 2025. Notably, auto tariffs may not have a significant impact as Sirius XM&#8217;s trial funnel now includes ~50% used cars and is seeing expanded penetration of EVs.
While still early, Reif Ehrlich noted the recently introduced price increase has been well received and is not driving elevated churn above the normal course.
Reif Ehrlich noted that general economic uncertainty and concerns around the consumer have impacted advertising sales (with CPG, retail, and travel softening).
Specifically, January advertising sales appeared stable, with softness emerging in late February and March, although programmatic has seen typical end-of-quarter strengthening.
Sirius XM&#8217;s podcasting portfolio will help reduce the impact of possible broader advertising weakness. Sirius XM is making considerable effort to re-ignite subgrowth, including utilizing new pricing/packaging as a retention tool.
Additionally, Sirius XM is introducing a post-trial extension tied to recently launched new price points, which improves onboarding and pricing transparency. Later this year, Sirius XM will introduce a lower-priced subscription package containing advertising.
The current 40-channel free access offering being trialed with some OEMs will likely continue as it provides an opportunity to upsell and offers some advertising upside. Each of these efforts is also being utilized to reduce promotional discounting.
For the first quarter, Reif Ehrlich maintained her revenue and EBITDA estimates of $2.05 billion and $606 million, respectively. The analyst increased the first-quarter capex to $205 million (versus $174 million). As a result, the new first-quarter free cash flow estimate is $100 million, although her full-year 2025 free cash flow of $1.149 billion remains in line with company guidance of ~$1.15 billion.
Financially, for 2025, Reif Ehrlich now forecasts revenue of ~$8.5 billion (versus $8.523 billion previously). The new EBITDA forecast is $2.608 billion (versus $2.627 billion) due mainly to the reduction in Pandora advertising.
Price Action: SIRI stock is down 5.42% at $22.53 at the last check on Friday.

JPMorgan analyst Sebastiano Petti reiterated the Underweight rating on SiriusXM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIRI#NASDAQ">SIRI</a>) on Tuesday, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SIRI/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">with a price forecast of $20.</a>
The analyst suggests that SiriusXM&#8217;s shares are underperforming due to growth challenges driven by demographic changes, a shift toward lower-priced plans and a revamped pricing strategy. These are expected to lead to near-term ARPU &#8220;dilution&#8221; and margin compression.
Petti has revised Pandora&#8217;s ad-supported revenue downward by 2.5%, now expecting it to reach $351 million. This adjustment follows a warning from CFO Thomas D. Barry in early March about weaker retail and consumer packaged goods advertising spend, driven by economic uncertainty and reduced business confidence.
As a result, the analyst has reduced the revenue forecast for the Pandora segment by 3%.

Despite cost-cutting efforts, the company&#8217;s elevated capital expenditures in the near-to-medium term, combined with increased leverage from its, Liberty Sirius acquisition, will likely delay share repurchases until 2027, further weighing on the stock, according to Petti.
The analyst has revised its estimates for SiriusXM following recent management conference appearances.
Petti writes that first-quarter revenue is adjusted to $2.05 billion, reflecting a 0.6% decline due to lower advertising revenue, particularly in retail and consumer packaged goods, amid macroeconomic uncertainty, though subscriber revenue remains unchanged.
However, the first quarter EBITDA is raised to $580 million, benefiting from improved margins through SG&amp;A cost-cutting and reduced streaming marketing expenses.
The analyst also updated the first quarter free cash flow to $123 million, driven by higher EBITDA, with capital expenditures largely unchanged. For the full year, consolidated revenue is trimmed to $8.50 billion with an EBITDA estimate of $2.60 billion, aligning with the company&#8217;s guidance of $8.5 billion and $2.6 billion, respectively.
The analyst emphasizes the need to monitor advertising trends and ARPU developments, especially as SiriusXM introduces its new $9.99 modular pricing.
Free cash flow for 2025 remains unchanged at $1.15 billion, in line with prior guidance, the analyst notes.
Price Action: SIRI shares are trading higher by 0.94% to $24.18 at last check Tuesday.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. This might explain why Buffett could be the reason Berkshire Hathaway is scooping up more shares of satellite radio company Sirius XM Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIRI#NASDAQ">SIRI</a>).
A new SEC <a href="https://investor.siriusxm.com/sec-filings/all-sec-filings##document-6883-0000950170-25-012600-2">filing </a>showed Berkshire Hathaway purchased 2,308,119 shares for around $54 million from Jan. 30 through Feb. 3.
The purchases came after Sirius XM Holdings reported fourth-quarter financial results that <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/01/43345721/sirius-xm-q4-earnings-beats-estimates-ceo-highlights-focus-on-in-car-subscriptions-ad-supported-growth">beat analyst estimates.</a>
Berkshire Hathaway now owns 119,776,692 Sirius XM shares — around 35.4% of the company, as reported by <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/02/04/warren-buffetts-berkshire-hathaway-scoops-up-more-sirius-xm-boosting-stake-to-35percent.html">CNBC</a>.
The firm first bought Liberty Media stocks in 2016. It later added to its Sirius XM-specific stake in 2024 as Liberty underwent changes to its public holding companies.

For the year, SiriusXM self-pay subscribers decreased by 296,000 to 33.1 million total subscribers versus 33.8 million Y/Y.
The self-pay monthly churn declined Y/Y to 1.5% for the quarter. SiriusXM added 149,000 self-pay subscribers in the quarter.
SiriusXM segment revenue declined 6% year over year to $1.62 billion during the quarter, driven by a lower average base of self-pay subscribers and a 53 cents year-over-year decrease in average revenue per user (ARPU).
ARPU decreased to $15.16 from $15.69 Y/Y. SiriusXM segment gross margin declined 100 bps to 60% Y/Y.
Pandora segment advertising revenue remained flat Y/Y at $434 million for the quarter.
Pandora&#8217;s Monthly Active Users (MAUs) were 43.34 million, down from 46.03 million in 2023. The total number of ad-supported listener hours was 2.39 billion in the quarter, down from 2.53 billion Y/Y.
The Pandora segment gross margin remained firm Y/Y at 34% for the quarter, while the gross profit declined by 1% Y/Y.
The adjusted EBITDA declined 4% Y/Y at $688 million due to lower subscriber revenue.
The company reported a net loss of $287 million.
Sirius generated $516 million in free cash flow in the quarter, versus $402 a year ago. It held $162 million in cash and equivalents as of December 31, 2024.
CEO Jennifer Witz noted by prioritizing our core in-car subscription business, leveraging its streaming capabilities, and growing its leadership in ad-supported audio, the company is well-positioned to deliver long-term value.
FY25 Outlook: Sirius XM expects revenue of $8.500 billion versus the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance">consensus of $8.594 billion</a>. It also projected an adjusted EBITDA of $2.60 billion and expects a free cash flow of $1.15 billion.

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>): Not to be outdone by Nvidia, <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2025/01/02/ces-2025-what-to-expect-from-the-years-first-and-biggest-tech-show/">TechCrunch</a> reports that semiconductor company AMD will hold an event on Monday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. ET. The event could include AMD showing off its newest GPUs to better compete with Nvidia.
Delta Air Lines (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DAL#NYSE">DAL</a>): To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Delta will have a large presence at CES 2025, which includes a keynote <a href="https://news.delta.com/delta-host-first-its-kind-ces-keynote-experience-sphere-las-vegas">experience </a>featuring CEO Ed Bastian. The company will use the Las Vegas Sphere for an immersive keynote on Jan. 7. This marks Delta's third appearance at CES and second main stage keynote since its debut in 2020, which featured Bastian giving the first CES keynote for an airline company.
Sphere Entertainment (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPHR#NYSE">SPHR</a>): Speaking of Sphere, with CES taking part in Las Vegas and Delta utilizing the venue for its keynote, this immersive venue that has hosted sporting events and concerts could become a hot topic next week.
Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TM#NYSE">TM</a>): The automotive company will hold a press conference at 7 p.m. ET Monday Jan. 6. The event could include more details on Toyota's Woven City living laboratory, according to TechCrunch.
Accenture (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ACN#NYSE">ACN</a>): Another keynote at CES 2025 will be Accenture CEO Julie Sweet on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Sweet is <a href="https://www.ces.tech/press-releases/accenture-chair-ceo-julie-sweet-to-deliver-keynote-at-ces-2025/">expected </a>to highlight how Accenture can help businesses leverage emerging technologies like AI. Accenture will highlight how companies can increase operational efficiency and enhance customer experiences.

X Corporation: The company formerly known as Twitter is no longer public, but a keynote from CEO Linda Yaccarino could be one of the most anticipated at CES 2025. Yaccarino could share more details on the company's ambitions for 2025 including more video tools and X Payments. Comments on X Payments could put cryptocurrency, including Dogecoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/doge/usd">DOGE</a>) in the spotlight. Yaccarino's comments on how the company will integrate payments could be closely watched by the cryptocurrency community.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Themes</h3>
Artificial intelligence could be one of the biggest themes at CES 2025 and the event could quickly show how large technologies and startups are utilizing the technology to make things easier for consumers and using the technology to help scale ideas and business concepts.
Electric vehicles could be another key theme with several companies in the sector there including Blink Charging (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BLNK#NASDAQ">BLNK</a>). Aptera Motors, which is working on solar-powered electric vehicles, will also be present at CES and show off its vehicle. The company will also conduct select media demos of the vehicle, which could put the company and technology in the spotlight.
Another theme could be Korea with a record number of Korean companies participating, as <a href="https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/tech/2025/01/129_389607.html">reported </a>by The Korea Times. CES 2025 will see 1,031 Korean companies take part, up from 772 last year. The country ranks third for number of participating companies trailing only the United States (1,509) and China (1,339), according to the report. The large number of participating companies from the region, including many startups, could highlight the country's strong role in technology advancements.

CES 2025 Preview: Nvidia And AMD Grab Spotlight, Other Trends And Stocks To Watch

Sirius XM shares are trading higher following a report that Warren Buffett acquired additional shares.

U.S. stocks were higher, with the Dow Jones index gaining over 300 points on Friday.
Shares of Mission Produce, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AVO#NASDAQ">AVO</a>) rose sharply during today's session after the company reported <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/12/42605747/mission-produce-shares-grow-after-strong-q4-results-details">better-than-expected fourth-quarter sales results.</a>
Mission Produce reported quarterly earnings of 28 cents per share and quarterly revenue of $354.4 million, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $220.4 million.
Mission Produce shares jumped 22.3% to $15.07 on Friday.

The company also announced an investment from Merck.</li>
<li>Enovix Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ENVX#NASDAQ">ENVX</a>) gained 22% to $9.80 as the company shipped first EX-2M samples to mobile phone customers.</li>
<li>Clearwater Paper Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CLW#NYSE">CLW</a>) surged 21.2% to $29.96.</li>
<li>Rigetti Computing, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RGTI#NASDAQ">RGTI</a>) gained 20.2% to $8.99.</li>
<li>Quantum Computing Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QUBT#NASDAQ">QUBT</a>) gained 20% to $18.17. In an exchange filing dated December 20, Quantum Computing has registered up to 8.96 million shares for resale by selling stockholders.</li>
<li>BlackBerry Limited (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BB#NYSE">BB</a>) surged 20% to $3.58 as the company posted upbeat quarterly earnings.</li>
<li>IonQ, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IONQ#NYSE">IONQ</a>) gained 15.5% to $ 43.63. Craig-Hallum analyst Richard Shannon maintained IonQ with a Buy and raised the price target from $22 to $45.</li>
<li>Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIRI#NASDAQ">SIRI</a>) rose 10% to $22.59. Warren Buffett acquired 4.96 million Sirius XM shares at an average price of $21.60.</li>
